The Fit Young Mummy Diet ebook
All you need to know about how to lose weight and reveal the new slimmer healthier you
Fit Yummy Mummy (FYM) is a diet and exercise plan with a focus on mothers that want to lose weight and get their pre-baby body back. While it’s true that many people are pressed for time, mothers in particular have a hard time fitting in exercise and eating healthy because they often have to balance work and family life.
That’s where Fit Yummy Mummy comes in. With the FYM plan, mothers can expect to squeeze in all of their exercise time in just 90 minutes a week. This is done through high intensity interval training and a series of strength training exercises that work several muscle groups at one time.
Furthermore, the diet plan itself is not something that is strict or regimented. Who has time to count those calories or plan a separate meal for yourself when you’re cooking for the family? Instead, the program encourages you to make healthy choices in your eating and to cultivate healthy eating habits.
The FYM program is designed by Holly Rigsby, herself a fit yummy mummy. She is a certified personal trainer as well as a mother. She’s walked the walk and has helped numerous women to get their bodies back through the Fit Yummy Mummy program.
The ebook starts out with a brief explanation of why you should follow the FYM plan — namely that you will feel more energetic and have more confidence. It also explains some of the basics of how the plan works — what benefits you can expect to achieve and what are the major factors that will play a role in your success.
Once you’ve learned the basics, you’re ready to move on to the three main aspects that will help you to lose weight, according to Rigsby. I’m not going to give away the secret, but I will say that these three things are absolutely essential to your weight loss success…and they have nothing to do with dieting or exercising for hours.
The next chapter focuses on the plan as a whole, and how it’s important to combine both diet and exercise if you want to successfully lose weight. Rigsby explains how fat loss works and why dieting can actually hinder your success. She also encourages you to throw away your scale. It’s better to focus your sights on a feeling, not a number on a scale. The number on the scale can be deceiving, because a fit and muscular person will weigh much more than you might think. In fact, I had a friend that was quite slim to the naked eye, but she actually weighted more than 150 pounds. You never would have guessed that to look at her.
You’ll then start to learn about the nutrition portion of the FYM plan. You won’t find anything too complicated here. The foundation of any good diet is eating healthy foods and this plan is no exception. Many mothers don’t have much time for cooking and may find that they’ve slipped into the habit of picking up fast food or eating junk for snacks. In actuality, it can be quite easy to prepare foods that are both healthy and delicious for the whole family.
What’s great about Rigsby’s eating plan is that it isn’t very strict and it eases you into healthy eating, creating good habits along the way. When you deprive yourself of certain foods, as you must do when you’re on many other types of diets, you may be more likely to get cravings and ultimately succumb to those cravings. By making smaller changes over time, you’ll find that you are more successful.
Rigsby offers a list of healthy foods to help you decide what to eat, a Create-A-Meal Menu Planner, which can help you plan meals, as well as your grocery shopping, and a list of habits that will help lead you to a healthier lifestyle. In addition to this, she’ll also help you to determine your caloric needs.
The exercise portion of the FYM plan is simple and easy to follow. It takes just 90 minutes per week, which you can split up however you like. For example, you may find that 30 minutes, three times a week works best for you. Or it may be easier to exercise 15 minutes, 6 days a week. The choice is yours.
The reason that you don’t have to focus much of your time on exercising is that you’ll be doing high intensity interval training, or HIIT. While Rigsby goes into detail about this, the basic idea is that by alternating short bursts of energy with recovery periods, you ultimately burn more calories, both during exercise and in the period that follows. This helps you to lose weight faster than if you were exercising at a steady state.
The plan also incorporates some resistance training. You don’t have to worry that you’ll “bulk up” by doing this. These exercises are easy to do and will help you to appear lean and toned. Furthermore, by creating more muscle mass, you’ll be able to naturally burn more calories throughout the course of the day.
You don’t have to worry about how to do the exercises, as Rigsby provides excellent descriptions and pictures to go along with them.
In addition to the plan, Rigsby also includes a number of helpful worksheets within the ebook, including goal planning sheets, a fitness journal, menu templates, and a grocery list.
Fit Yummy Mummy is an EXCELLENT weight loss program, especially for people who are as busy as mothers. Some diets offer quick results that are not sustainable over the long term, but you won’t find that here. FYM is a sensible exercise and diet plan that is designed specifically for mothers, or really anyone that doesn’t have a lot of time to spend on exercise. By focusing on guiding you toward healthier habits instead of looking for a quick fix, Rigsby has created a plan that will stand up to the test of time. In fact, you may find that by following the FYM program, you end up with a body that’s even better than your pre-baby body. All it takes is 90 minutes a week.
